Rebuild Ukraine: Oksana from Irpin

Oksana and her husband had been collecting funds for 10 years before finally realizing their dream — buying a small, one-room apartment in quiet, beautiful Irpin. They made repairs, and adored the pine forest outside their window. They lived in their own home for only 5 years, however.

On the day of the invasion, February 24, the family evacuated thanks to the persistence of their son, Nazar.
In April, the family learned that a fire had broken out on the 5th floor of their apartment complex, caused by russian shelling. They hoped that at least some things would survive, but the apartment had burned to the ground; the roof was completely destroyed.
Despite the loss of her home, Oksana perseveres and believes that she should help internally displaced persons and families with small children:

"I'm glad we stayed alive. That we didn’t see all the horror that other people saw."

said Oksana.
