Timothy Snyder and Mark Hamill launch a joint fundraiser for 30 demining robots

As a result of the russian invasion, almost a quarter of Ukraine's government-controlled territory (139,300 square kilometers) is contaminated with explosive ordnance. It will take at least 10 years to clear it. UNITED24 Ambassadors, Timothy Snyder and Mark Hamill, are joining forces to raise funds for demining robots to help clear Ukrainian land.

OUR GOAL IS $441,000

THESE ARE THE ROBOTS YOU ARE RAISING MONEY FOR

Zmiy Ground Demining Complex

Due to its small size, this robotic de-miner is able to work in hard-to-reach areas. Zmiy clears mines with the help of a special chained trawl. It can destroy TM-62 mines, as well as anti-personnel mines such as PMN-2, PMN-4, PFM and mines installed with tripwires, like OZM-72 and MON devices. It works at a safe distance from the operator.

UGV SIRKO-S1 Remote Controlled Platform

This terrestrial robotic complex provides logistical support to tactical units, reaching a maximum speed of up to 14 km/h. It’s multifunctional,  helping military operations in reconnaissance, surveillance, evacuation of the wounded, transportation of cargo up to 200 kg and even demining. Equipped with two cameras, it utilizes non-standard frequencies for control and video transmission, ensuring safe and reliable communications between operators and the robot at distances of up to 5 km.

KNLR-E Multi-purpose Tracked Platform

This robotic demolition truck, with a fully armored body, has a range of up to 15 km. It can carry up to 300 kilograms of cargo and move on any surface thanks to its сaterpillar mover. Invisible to the enemy, the KNLR-E is capable of clearing territory thanks to equipped DKRP or MICLIC demining systems.

One of Russia’s worst crimes in Ukraine has been the scattering of millions of mines. I have visited deoccupied zones near the front where people have to take risks to help others return to their farms and homes.

Thanks to these robots, mines can be cleared and human life can be saved. I am thrilled to join Mark Hamill and all of you as we create Safe Terrains.

Timothy Snyder

Due to the Russian invasion, almost a quarter of Ukraine's territory needs to be demined.

Currently, there are thousands of unexploded enemy mines and other ordnance in Ukrainian soil. Every mine neutralized equals civilian lives saved. Each demining robot ensures the safety of Ukrainian sappers.

Together with Timothy Snyder, we want to raise funds for 30 such platforms. Each contribution helps to clear Ukrainian land and save thousands of lives. Please join us!

Mark Hamill

Timothy Snyder and Mark Hamill

Timothy Snyder is a prominent historian and professor at Yale University. In October 2022, Snyder joined the ambassador team of the UNITED24 fundraising platform. He launched a fundraising campaign for the “Shahed Hunter” drone countermeasure for Kyiv in November, and closed it by February 2023, having raised $1,268,196. Later, Snyder launched a campaign for an innovative Ukrainian sensor system -  Safe Skies - which is capable of detecting enemy air targets and predicting their route. Timothy raised more than $2,347,900 to help protect Sumy, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Cherkasy Oblasts from drones and missiles.

Mark Hamill is an American actor who has played and voiced more than 250 roles, and became world famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. In September 2022, the actor joined UNITED24’s team of ambassadors. He became an ambassador for the "Army of Drones,” assisting Ukrainian defenders. Later, Hamill announced a fundraising campaign to purchase RQ‑35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones, raising $1,517,205.

Timothy and Mark will raffle off prizes among all those who donate

With a donation of $24 or more, each donor can win a copy of On Tyranny, by Timothy Snyder, or The Road to Victory, signed by Mark Hamill. The number of contributions from one person is unlimited, and there are 3 copies of each prize to give out. Get involved and help sappers make Ukrainian land safe as soon as possible.
