STORY
The residential complex Buzova-17 was constructed in 2014. Three five-story buildings were too good for a village, and so they were a prime target for a russian tank. One of the buildings is beyond restoration, the second was repaired with community funds, and the third is now being reconstructed thanks to donors at UNITED24.
This apartment building is where Mykola Mykhailovych, a former teacher from Kyiv, used to live. He is 69 years old. Throughout their whole working life, he and his wife were saving up money for an apartment of their own.
The married couple moved into their new home immediately after construction was finished. They made renovations, decorating every corner to their taste. After many years of hard work, Mykola wanted only one thing — a calm and peaceful life in a quiet place near Kyiv.
This dream was ruined by a russian bombshell that turned the home into a pile of rubble. Throughout fall and winter of 2022, the apartment was flooded by rain and filled with snow. Mykhailovych, as the neighbors call him, spent the entire war living in a village with his son. He was one of the last to leave his home behind when the shellings began, and one of the first to sort through the debris. He fed the animals that were abandoned, threw out the trash, and helped out his neighbors. Now he is a senior overseer in repairs.
Thanks to you, Mykhailovych will soon be able to come back home.
