Katheryn Winnick Becomes a UNITED24 Fundraising Platform Ambassador

Being of Ukrainian descent, the Canadian-born Winnick will focus on the Rebuild Ukraine program, which will help restore residential buildings in Ukraine. 

“A home is where a family comes together. It’s where love is shared, and memories are made. Rebuild Ukraine will rebuild not only homes but also families,”

says Winnick about The Winnick Foundation’s current efforts.

Having initially focused on helping women and children around the world, the Winnick Foundation shifted its efforts to the humanitarian crisis, after the war started. This came to the attention of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who, just the previous year, had invited the award-winning actress to Kyiv to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. During a recent video call, the two discussed the details of her ambassadorship, and how The Winnick Foundation, in partnership with UNITED24, could improve the lives of Ukrainians who’ve lost their homes to russian shelling.

Katheryn Winnick — Kateryna Vynnytska — comes from a devoted Ukrainian family with a strong community. Her grandparents are Ukrainian immigrants who fled with their children from the Soviet regime, first to Germany, then finally settling in Toronto, Canada in 1949.

The actress, now starring in ABC’s hit show BIG SKY, has been a vocal advocate of Ukraine since 2014.
