This is Vitaly Gvozdik, paramedic of the Trostianets emergency substation. Vitaly and his brigade escorted the first ‘green corridor’ during the occupation of the city.
"It was a difficult road, all in debris. Tires were punctured and cars drove on flat tires. We were taking out our paramedic with two small children. During the return, at the entrance to Trostyanets, shells started flying above us. We decided to take another road, and there it was, covered with trees. We drove through the russian checkpoint. The military were told to open the back door, but they jammed it shut. The russians said that if we don't open it, they will shoot the car. It opened. A few days later, this ambulance was destroyed during the shelling of the hospital."
After the deoccupation of Trostianets, not a single ambulance remained at the substation. Thanks to donations from UNITED24 donors, a modern ambulance was purchased, and Vitaliy has been working on it since September, alongside other crews:
"A C-type ambulance provides the highest level of emergency medical care. The car has literally everything. We are very, very grateful that all this was brought to us at the right time!"
