On the morning of August 14, 2023, when Iryna was preparing breakfast for herself and her husband Mykola, she could not have imagined that in a few hours she would be sitting under the door of the intensive care unit and experiencing some of the most terrifying moments of her life.

We had breakfast. My husband then told me that his back must have been pinched because it felt like it was hard to breathe. He and I considered ourselves generally healthy people, and when something hurts, it means a nerve in the back — and you just need to stretch properly.

Mykola went to work. He worked at the police station not far from their home. A few meters before the door, he suddenly fell. It was from this moment that the time to save his life went to minutes.

As I was told, Mykola's heart stopped. It is good that it happened near his administration. They recognized him and began to save him: who called an ambulance, who tried to resuscitate him. The ambulance arrived in 4 minutes. They began to restart the heart.

Thanks to the professional work of doctors and an ambulance equipped with a defibrillator and ALV device, Mykola's heart started beating again.

He was clinically dead for six minutes. Six minutes is a critical time. If it had been longer, they wouldn't have been able to save him. But they made it. When he was brought to the reception department, his heart was already beating and he was breathing.

Mykola was diagnosed with a heart attack. At the hospital, the man underwent stenting and began treatment. But thanks to the prompt actions of emergency workers, Mykola survived and is now recovering.
