Michel Hazanavicius, film director and UNITED24 ambassador, answered questions for students of the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television University

We were inspired by the story of actress Berenice Bejo, who won the 2011 César Award as Best Actress in the movie The Artist.

“When Berenice was doing the text, I didn’t really look at her. She called her agent and said ‘He didn’t look at me, he was not interested.’ But I hired her. And a month after that she asked me about it. I said to her ‘Well, the image is my job. So I don’t need your makeup and your hair, it’s not the major of my movie. I didn’t need to watch you, I needed to hear you. Life acting doesn't need editing. It is really the last part of the acting.”
