Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, began his visit to Ukraine by meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation. They discussed Uber’s extensive support efforts on the ground in Ukraine throughout 2022, the company’s commitment to continuing these initiatives in 2023, and an additional donation of $1,500,000 toward life-saving ambulances via UNITED24.
At the beginning of December, UNITED24 and Uber launched an international fundraiser for urgently needed ambulances, titled ‘Keep Ukraine Moving’. The fundraising campaign told the individual stories of brave Ukrainian drivers, who are still helping their country and saving lives during the war. The total amount of funds raised and donated by the company reached $1,500,000.
During the meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov, Dara Khosrovshahi announced a new Uber donation for C-type ambulances. The company will provide another $1,500,000 to the campaign, doubling the total raise to $3,000,000 in just 1 month of partnership with UNITED24.
"The support of leading global companies is as important as ever. After all, world-famous brands help to not only raise funds for our country, which has been defending itself for over 10 months, but also keep Ukraine in the world’s focus. I am grateful to the Uber team for their numerous on-the-ground initiatives implemented during 2022, as well as for partnering up with the UNITED24 platform. Thanks to this support, we will be able to provide heroic Ukrainian medics with ambulances that will save thousands of lives." — Mykhailo Fedorov.
In turn, the Uber team assured UNITED24 that it would further support healthcare, education, cultural and non-governmental organizations until the end of 2023.
“We’re humbled by the generosity of Uber users around the world who stood with Ukraine and donated as part of the Keep Ukraine Moving campaign, which we launched in close partnership with UNITED24. Inspired by the bravery and heroism of Ukrainian drivers and citizens, today we are making an additional donation toward life-saving ambulances and recommitting to our on-the-ground support for 2023 and for as long as this terrible war lasts.” – Dara Khosrowshahi.
In addition to collaboration with UNITED24, Uber will keep providing free rides for temporarily displaced people, as well as doctors, nurses, teachers, and critical infrastructure workers. They will help the ministries of culture, health, education and science. This is alongside delivering vital food, medicine, winter shelter, and reconstruction supplies in 2023, free of charge.
