Richard Branson

Billionaire philanthropist

since

April, 2023

Richard Branson is a billionaire philanthropist, the founder of Virgin Unite, author of numerous books and one of the Top 100 living geniuses according to Creators Synectics. His active support for Ukraine spans nearly ten years.

In 2014, during the Revolution of Dignity, Branson publicly condemned the dictatorial “16 January Laws” and addressed the global community with a plea to take russia’s annexation of Crimea seriously. He visited Ukraine in September 2014 and held a press-conference, where he voiced his anti-Putin position.

Not long before the full-scale invasion began, on the 27th of January 2022, Richard Branson published his article My thoughts on Ukraine and Russia, where he called upon the world business representatives to support Ukrainians in protecting their sovereignty.

And when the terrible war escalated, he once again asked the world to turn their attention and look at what had been happening in Ukraine for years:

“The world must support Ukraine. Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear weapons in return for Russia ‘respecting the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine’. It is now on the verge of being invaded by the very country that persuaded it to do so,”

said the billionaire.

In the summer of 2022 Richard Branson came to Ukraine again, visiting the destroyed airport in Hostomel, and during his next visit in 2023 he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and joined the fundraising platform UNITED24 as an ambassador.

“Faced with this horrific war, Ukraine has become a beacon of determination and hope for the world. It is a great honor for me to become an Ambassador for UNITED24. I look forward to using Virgin Unite’s global reach and networks to help support the great work UNITED24 is doing,”

said Branson about his new role.

Support Ukraine during this pivotal moment.
