Over 6 million UAH has been raised towards a demining vehicle thanks to Tickets to Victory

27.09.2023 · Partnering

Ukrzaliznytsia, the UNITED24 platform, Gres Todorchuk and project partner concert.ua have reported on the results of the first part of the Train to Victory project.

Over 6 million UAH has been raised towards a demining vehicle thanks to Tickets to Victory

Thanks to ticket sales for the first journeys to liberated Kherson, as well as for future journeys to Sevastopol, Simferopol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Mariupol, 6,148,900 UAH has been raised.

The Tickets to Victory project started in November 2022, marking the liberation of Kherson, becoming the first destination for which charity tickets were sold. Everyone could buy a ticket for the first journey to five Ukrainian cities, usable as after their liberation from the temporary occupation. Tickets to Victory were sold on the website of the concert.ua operator, which also joined the project and made a contribution via UNITED24 for the entire amount of their service fee, ensuring that 100% of the funds raised are directed to the purchase of a demining vehicle.

"A year ago, railway workers proved that they can quickly resume train rides to  de-occupied territories," says Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Head of the passenger route at Ukrzaliznytsia. "But before launching the rail service, it is important to secure the infrastructure from the remains of unexploded shells and other ordnance. Therefore, all funds raised under the Tickets to Victory project have been transferred to the Humanitarian Demining direction of the UNITED24 platform."

Train to Victory tickets don't have an expiration date and can be redeemed after the liberation of Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Simferopol. The route to Crimea was so popular that Ukrzaliznytsia added another charity train ride to Sevastopol. The largest number of tickets purchased (1,747) had Crimea as destination.

"A Train to Victory ticket is a symbol of faith in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and that all Ukrainian cities will be liberated," says UNITED24 Coordinator Yaroslava Gres. "We are very grateful to all the platform donors from around the world, who contributed and purchased these symbolic tickets. The vast majority of these people have never been to Ukraine, but as one philanthropist from the US wrote to us: there is no better opportunity to visit your wonderful country than to ride the Train to Victory to Ukrainian Crimea."

Humanitarian Demining is a new area of UNITED24 operational activity. The outstanding economist Francis Fukuyama became its first ambassador. The American actor Misha Collins became the second one.

"We were amazed at how fast the Tickets to Victory have been sold. The first 2000 tickets were sold out in 24 hours," said Dmytro Feliksov, the Founder of the concert.ua ticket vendor.  "Besides Ukraine, people from 12 countries bought tickets. Most of them were from Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. We hope to see everyone, who supported this project, in Ukraine one day. We thank Ukrzaliznytsia and UNITED24 for joining this initiative and are happy to transfer the entire amount of the service fee as our contribution towards a demining vehicle. We will continue to use our capabilities to help the country."
