True peace in Ukraine means a complete end to Russia’s brutal and illegal invasion of Ukrainian territory and the return of all occupied lands, including Crimea, to Ukraine. Peace means the return of all prisoners of war and all children Russia has kidnapped and taken away. My heart aches for them and for their parents, who have lost their peace because of grief.

Peace in Ukraine means rebuilding the energy and transport infrastructure, housing, farmland, and beautiful architecture that Russia has destroyed through endless bombardment. In our time, many people and nations around the world do not live under the blessing of peace.

I sincerely hope that Ukraine—and all humanity—will soon live in peace.
